Notice the school problem
The role list names a head, an office coordinator, and guides. But the family handbook does not explain who handles different questions.
The school wants to share responsibility. Its documents leave the route unclear.
Read it through the framework
Clarity of Purpose and Role: make responsibility for receiving, answering, and escalating explicit.
Freedom Within Structure: give staff authority within their roles. Justice as Infrastructure: make the route accessible to families and provide an alternative contact for concerns about staff.
The documents suggest a mismatch. They cannot establish how often it happens or how staff experience it.
Make the next step practical
First: the head and office coordinator draft a one-page responsibility map, then review it with guides before sharing it with families. Urgent safeguarding matters stay within established procedures.
- Week 1: review a small, de-identified sample of inquiries.
- Week 2: agree responsibilities and escalation routes.
- Weeks 3–4: trial the map and record unclear cases.
- End of week 4: review exceptions and adjust.
Evidence to look for: fewer misrouted questions and a route families can understand. Establish a baseline before claiming improvement.
