SMS Consent & Messaging Policy

What this is

MMAP is a school management platform used by Montessori schools to communicate with enrolled families. Schools using the Mapmaker or Atlas tier of MMAP can send SMS notifications to families through our platform. This page documents how those families consent to receive those messages, what kinds of messages they receive, and how they can stop them.

How families opt in

SMS opt-in happens at a dedicated, single-purpose page on the Montessori Makers Group website. The page does only one thing: record an explicit, written consent to receive transactional SMS from a specific school using MMAP. It is not part of an application, enrollment, or any other process.

On the page, families select their school, enter a mobile phone number, and check a single, clearly labeled consent box. The exact consent text shown to the user is:

• The checkbox is unchecked by default. The Subscribe button is disabled until it is checked.
• Submitting the form does only one thing: it records SMS consent. It does not enroll, apply, or sign the family up for any other service or agreement.
• SMS opt-in is not a requirement of using MMAP, applying to a school, or enrolling. Families can use the platform and the school without ever subscribing to SMS.
• The page is not bundled with the school's Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Enrollment Agreement, Photo Release, or any school admissions process. Each is a separate, independent agreement.
• Every affirmative consent is timestamped and logged with the phone number, the exact consent text shown, the source URL, IP address, and user agent. Logs are retained for audit.

What kinds of messages we send

Families who opt in may receive:

• Attendance notifications — e.g. "Artemisia was marked absent today. If this is a mistake, please reply or contact the office."
• School event reminders — e.g. "Reminder: Parent conference tomorrow at 3:00 PM with Ms. Jane."
• Emergency / weather alerts — e.g. "ALERT: School closed tomorrow due to weather. Full update in the Family Portal."
• Billing / administrative notifications — e.g. "Tuition payment received — thank you."
• Other time-sensitive school business initiated by the school's authorized staff.

We do not send marketing, promotional, or third-party content via SMS. MMAP does not share phone numbers with any third party for marketing. See ourPrivacy Policy for details.

Message frequency depends on the school. Most schools send 2–8 messages per family per month during the school year.

How to opt out

• Reply STOP to any message. Opt-out is immediate and permanent for that phone number.
• Reply HELP for help and contact information.
• Contact your school's office directly.
• Remove SMS consent from your MMAP Family Portal account settings.

Opt-outs are honored across the entire MMAP platform. You will not receive further SMS from the school that sent them, even if you remain enrolled.

Message & data rates

Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Montessori Makers Group and participating schools do not charge families for SMS; any charges come from your own mobile plan.

Privacy & security

Phone numbers and SMS consent records are stored securely in the MMAP platform database and protected by row-level security policies that limit access to the school's authorized administrators. Phone numbers are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing. The only third party with access to phone numbers is our SMS delivery provider (Twilio), who processes messages on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments.

Families can request a copy of their data or deletion of their SMS consent record at any time by contacting the school directly or emailingprivacy@montessorimakersalignmentmap.com.
